I'm Alyson, owner and dyer at Aly Bee Workshop! I'm a Southern California-based seamstress, crafter, and aspiring beekeeper. When I'm not dyeing yarn, I love sewing costumes, playing video games, spending time with my husband and our two cats, and occasionally baking up a treat or two. My favorite color is mustard yellow and I love autumn!
I learned how to crochet and started dyeing fabric for costumes in 2010, but it wasn't until 10 years later that I discovered a love of dyeing yarn! I've always loved art and all things colorful, so I like to think of playing with dye on yarn as if it's watercolor on paper. I finally learned how to knit in 2023 and fell in love with fair isle colorwork!
My emphasis is on tonal colorways and subtle color variegation inspired by changing seasons, holiday traditions, and the comforts of home!
Please send me a message using the contact form below if you cannot find an answer to your question.
I've changed a few color names since the "Knitting the National Park" patterns were published, but the dye recipes are all the same! Here's a few that have changed:
Peaches is now Nectarine
Berry Punch is now Juice Break
Lemon-Lime is now Margarita
Island Sunrise is now Campfire
Ocean Water is now Costa del Sol
Merlot is now Black Cherry
Sweet Cream is now Vanilla
No problem! If you're looking for one of the colorways from a Seasonal Celebration box (or any other color that you don't see listed on the site), go ahead and send me a message below! I'm happy to answer any questions you have or custom dye an old colorway just for you.
I dye yarn in batches of 3, so any orders of more than 3 skeins will be from different dye lots. I take care to make colorways as consistent as possible! But as with all hand-dyed or handmade goods, variation is a part of what makes my products unique!
My yarn comes from mulesing-free South American farms in Argentina and Uruguay, and is milled in the USA.
No, I don't offer ball winding at this time.
Since all yarn is dyed-to-order, please keep in mind there is a standard 2-3 week processing time for ALL orders. If I anticipate an order taking longer than that, I'll send a message your way to let you know what's happening.

This wait time is what allows me to keep my entire colorway collection available year-round!
