About Aly Bee

I'm Alyson, owner and dyer at Aly Bee Workshop! I'm a Southern California-based seamstress, crafter, and aspiring beekeeper. When I'm not dyeing yarn, I love sewing costumes, playing video games, spending time with my husband and our two cats, doing digital paintings, and occasionally baking up a treat or two. My favorite color is mustard yellow and I love autumn!

I learned how to crochet and started dyeing fabric for costumes in 2010, but it wasn't until 10 years later that I discovered a love of dyeing yarn! I've always loved art and all things colorful, so I like to think of playing with dye on yarn as if it's watercolor on paper. I finally learned how to knit in 2023 and fell in love with fair isle colorwork!

In 2023 I helped found SoCal Fiber Fair, and in the past few years it's grown into Southern California's largest fiber arts event! In 2025, I started working on a degree in Graphic Design.

My emphasis is on tonal colorways and subtle color variegation inspired by changing seasons, holiday traditions, and the comforts of home!
